Solo Trip Ends, Fiesta Begins

Another early morning. The alarm (and wake up call) sounded at 5:30 am. I quickly took a shower, grabbed my bag, and walked the 10 minute walk to the bus station. There I bought a ticket for the 6:30am bus to the airport - a 45 minute ride - so that I´d get there in plenty of time before my 9:30am flight to Rio.
The bus and flight went smoothly. At 12:00pm, I walked through customs and into Brazil. There was Adam waiting for me just as we´d planned.
My solo trip was over.
We took a cab into the city of Rio de Janeiro, where (after a bit of circling) we found our small 2 bedroom apartment on Constante Ramos street. Fabio let us in, showed us around, gave us a key,
The apartment was very nice - clean and modern. Two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, living area, washer/dryer, even a small balcony.
I was very excited to completely unpack my backpack, hang up my clothes, and just sort of "arrange things." It will feel good to not exactly be living out of my backpack finally, I thought. And real laundy!
We spent the better part of the afternoon strolling along the beach, boardwalk, and streets of Rio de Janeiro. Toward the end of the walk, we were looking for a particular bar that Adam recalled from his last visit here. We couldn´t find it, despite the zig-zaggin walk and questioning people. We settled on having a capirinha at Darota de Impanema bar, where I guess the song Girl From Impanema was written. One capirinha turned into two, and then we also ordered some grilled steak (which came on a sizzling hot iron platter, and required us to cook the small pieces of steak). Really tasty.
We got back to the apartment finally by 9pm or 10pm, and decided to just call it a night. We were both tired. Each of the last two nights I had had about 2 or 3 hours of sleep, and Adam of course had just made the long journey from San Francisco. Plus he´s trying to recover from some kind of cold. I hope I don´t get it!
