To Constitucion and Back
Maybe the late night wine and chat with Nichole, Dorina, and Inga wasn´t such a good idea after all.
I was supposed to wake up at 645am to take the train out to the beach at Constitucion. Ooops, I missed it! I didn´t even wake up until 930am!
I grabbed a quick bite to eat and then ventured into town to take a bus out to Constitucion. I´d take the train back. (The train is supposed to be a unique experience – through beautiful countryside, along a river, through tiny towns, etc).
I was able to book a bus ticket without any problems. And within 2.5 hours I was strolling the streets of Constitucion. As the bus had entered town, I noted which way the beach was – and then backtracked a bit on foot to get there.
The beach was pretty amazing.
Black sand. Really windy. Huge rocks. Cold water. Nice boardwalk with lamps. And a few little restaurants along the street. After taking a beach walk, climbing some rocks, and watching the waves break, I headed into one of the restaurants for some fried fish and tomato-onion salad.
At 330pm, I headed to the train station to take the historial – and painfully slow – train back to
I got back to Casa Chueca just in time for dinner. Pasta this time. Afteward, Dorina and others had set up a bonfire so we enjoyed that for a bit. (Although in hindsight, now my 1 pair of jeans smells like a campfire).
Everyone was pretty tired so we called it an early night. Well, midnight. I guess that´s early around here. Plus I didn´t want to miss my early morning train tomorrow!
I could have spent at least another 2 nights at Casa Chueca. There were more wineries to visit, as well as a hike that people recommended. Oh well. Next time.
