Ipanema and Leblon, two of the main beaches in Rio (the other being Copacabana)

Juice bars.

Internet.

Beach walks.

Street strolls.

That was about the extent of our day.  At least until about 7pm, when we headed down to Academia de Cachaca for some tasty capirinhas and steak.  From there, we started our trek back home, stopping spontaneously at Shenanigans because it looked crowded and fun.  We enjoyed an Erdinger there, as well as the upstairs balcony which served as good relief from the noisy, stuffy, beachy crowd inside.  We also enjoyed meeting Flavia, a local gal who we thought we´d meet out later in our stay (turns out, we didn´t).  And we met Chris, a guy from NY, who we did end up meeting out the next night.

After Shenanigan´s, Adam and I went home to the apartment to clean up and change clothes.   This is how wierd the timing is around here:  It was midnight, and we were just getting home from "a day at the beach" (walk, sun, and after-beach drinks and snacks)!

We then headed out around 1am to the real bars.  Well, actually, we just hit one place near our apartment.   I think we lost steam having started too early with those capirinhas.

We weren´t fully into the Brazilian pace just yet...
