After the end of my "package" adventure tour I was off alone, and some people would say this is when I was travelling for real, one opinion maybe. There are so many ways to travel the many paths, who can say which is better, it's your choice, for you to make the decision and accept what comes with that. This is when you find out for sure if you're cut out for it, whether you're prepared enough. This is sink or swim time, and as far as destinations go this is hardly the most difficult. The area is probably friendlier on individual travellers than other locations in madagascar, there is certainly no shortage of friendly places to stay. The minute amount of french I knew was the biggest trial, and some of the travellers I met on the way made sure I knew that.
There was great scenery around diego suarez that made the location well worth it. Next I travel through my last national park in madagascar and quickly through nosy be which has a bit of a shady touristy reputation and fly back to antananarivo the last time before heading onward to mauritius.
