Montezuma Cataratas with Michelle and Jean-Francois.
Thursday after class, Michelle and I jumped on a bus to Montezuma. Then on a ferry from Puntarenas to watch the sunset. Then two other buses. Finally, we got to cute little Montezuma. Our hostel, Pension Arenas was literally right on the beach. Starving, we went to a restaurant just steps away from our hammocks and got some grinds and complimentary cervezas. Being absolutely exhausted from our seven hour mission, we passed out in hammocks till we eventually dragged ourselves up to our room.

I woke up around 7:30 to the sound of waves crashing against the beach and monkeys howling in the palm trees. Paradise right? We laid out for a few hours, soaking up the sun and then decided that at 11 am was a good time to start drinking a couple 40 oz of Imperial while we napped in the hammocks.
Oh Israel. Jejeje
Earlier in the week we had talked to those awesome French Canadian guys, Israel, JF, and Pier, and they said they were in hanging out in the small surf town of Santa Teresa about an hour away. So, we were waiting for them to drive up on freaking ATVs and pick us up! They came!!!!! It was so nice to see their awesome faces again!!! Seriously, the coolest group of guys I've ever met. Mayumi, the crazy chick from Tokyo was there too along with a few new guys; Sean from New York, Massimo from Italy, and Eric from Canada.

So I hopped on the back of a quad with JF :) and we sped off up the hill to find the waterfalls. After about a 15 minute hike uphill we arrived at the first falls. All of us jumped into the pool of water and started climbing up the rocks.
Scoping the smaller falls......
I don't know how high it was but it was definitely a jump! So funnnnnn!!!!! There was a crazy Tico boy who went higher than all of us and swan dived over and over again. After that adrenaline rush, we continued to hike uphill because there was another, bigger falls. The hike was almost vertical and I was pulling myself up on tree roots and then had to rappel down on a rope. But finally, dripping in sweat, we made it!!! This one was HUGE!!!! However, after a toke I threw myself right off that 40 ft cliff. Smacked my leg pretty rough when I hit the water but it was all worth it. There was also this really cool tree and rope swing that I climbed up and dove off. We eventually drug ourselves away from the beauty of Montezuma Cataratas and hiked back down, jumped on the quads (very close with hottie JF ;), and found a cute little restaurant to fill our bellies.

The boys didn't want to drive the quads back to Santa Teresa drunk so they headed back after dinner, promising to come pick us up in the morning and take us with them to the surf town. So Michelle, Pier, and a few other people from our hostel sat on the beach and rum'n'coked the night away. Such a freaking awesome day. Did I mention I love my life?
