We had breakfast at the hostel and then went to pick up the tickets to the near by agency. The worker jumped on his scooter and left with our cash. About 10 minutes later he was back with the tickets and we jumped into a taxi headed for the airport. We got there in plenty of time, checked in and waited to board the flight to Shanghai. We arrived in Shanghai at about 1:30pm. We asked the airline representative in the baggage claim area how to get to Shuzhou. She told us to catch a bus just outside the airport, behind the Mc Donald’s. We found the bus area and managed to buy tickets on the 2:30 bus. At about 2:20 we put our bags through the scanner and got on board. At 2:30 we were in the bus headed out of Shanghai. We arrived in Suzhou about 45 minutes later and from the drop off we eventually flagged down a taxi. Finally we arrived at the Hostel. It was smoky and uninviting, there were a group of young men smoking around the pool table. Another young man showed us our room in a coffee shop on a canal at the other side of the street. The room was ok, but the bathroom reeked of mildew. Keeping the bathroom door closed and the window open made it bearable. At least it didn’t smell of cigarettes. After a walk around the area and a stop to gather information from the tourist office we decided to go to bed. We plugged in the mosquito repellent , put in our ear plugs, and turn off the lights.
