We had breakfast at the 7th heaven Restaurant. The advertised western breakfast and no MSG, It turned out to be good food and service. After breakfast we went to meet Fern as it was almost 10:00am. We picked out a couple of bikes with gears for 20 RMB each at the bike rental area. They wanted a 400 RMB deposit, but when Fern showed up with a guide they waved the deposit. A petite Chinese woman that we called Wendy was our guide(200RMB). Off we went trough the city to the country side stopping for pictures of the water lilies and anything else that caught our fancy. Eventually we ended up at the launching area for the bamboo rafts. We decided to take the ride. Monica and Wilson on one, Fern on another, each with a poll man to propel us down the river. Wendy loaded the bikes on a truck and told us she would meet up with us again down river 1.
Eventually we drifted to a halt and there was Wendy waiting for us. The raft was loaded onto the truck and we cycled away toward our next adventure. We declined on going to the mud cave and instead carried on up to Moon Hill where we shared lunch. We had fried pumpkin strips and beer, it was quite tasty. Moon hill was within sight. It’s a hill with a natural tunnel through it. We could just make out some rock climbers clinging to the side in their effort to get completely inverted. From there we meandered through rice fields, orchards, and ponds until we eventually ended up back in town at 4:00pm. We had one last stop at a fruit market for cold water and some fresh fruits.
We returned the bikes, paid the guide, and invited Fern for a pizza and beer . A good ending to a great day.
