Fun times outside of volunteer placement

chewing on a chalk-like herb that supposedly immunizes you from scorpions..
We had a lot of time on our hands when we weren't volunteering.  A LOT.  But I was never bored.  It took me a while at first to adjust to the pace of life here.  People have this uncanny ability to do absolutely nothing, which is hard for anyone used to constantly doing things, thinking about things, or thinking about doing things.  It was unnerving a little bit, but then you just let yourself relax, and take things slowly, and then the Ghanaian way of life just seems to seep into your blood.
Most days after volunteering in the morning, I would have a leisurely lunch with my volunteer friends at home, then maybe walk to town to get some fresh pineapples and jewelry if it was market day, or stop by the internet cafe for an hour or two,  or maybe have some clothes made by a local seamstress.  But I would never do all of them in one day, oh no!  That's insane!  A full, busy day was when I would go to the internet cafe AND visit the post office.  Phew!   And everyone back home would say, "Wow Lisa, where've you been all day?"  My dear friends Silan and Janelle, still reminisce about these days...
Anyway here are the photos from Time Off and Fun On!
