Nice town, the weather was bad

Garmishch Partenkirchen is a nice little town, with a great attraction.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is located at the foot of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany (2,962 m/9,724 ft), and is both one of the principal climatic health spas in the Bavarian Alps and Germany’s premier winter sports metropolis. The city hosted the 1936 Winter Olympics and the 1978 World Championship and offers pristine nature, secluded spots, cultural and culinary highlights, new experiences, relaxation, wellness, and upscale shopping. A wide range of sports is available in both summer and winter. You can also pamper yourself with spa treatments such as ayurveda, thalasso, natural hay baths, and numerous health therapies. Always nice to do, but unfortunatly we didn't have the time to do it. Maybe some time when we're on vacation in the neighbourhood in Berghtesgadenland where I definitly want to go some time!

The original ski jump was erected in 1924 on the Kochelberg Mountain.

As the area began preparing for the 1936 Olympic Winter Games, construction began on the Olympic Ski Jump. Completed in 1935, the stadium was built in the style typical for this era. Over the years, this ski jump was reconstructed and modernized. Since 1953, the traditional New Year’s Ski Jump has taken place here. The first day of the year 2007 was the last for the "old" Olympic Ski Jump. Impressive and imposing with its modern architecture and state of the art engineering, the new ski jump fulfils the most stringent requirements for international competitions. With record construction duration of only eight months, the ski jump was opened in December, 2007. So, the ski jump on my pictures is the old one!

I'd like to spend more time here in this surroundings, this was more an excursion from München for the afternoon but it's certainly worth visiting for a longer stay!!
