Frankfurt City Forest in winter

I've already introduced Frankfurt City Forest but the quality of it changes completely with the seasons so I decided to also do this separate winter section.

The lake sometimes freezes over completely and that is where the real fun is in winter. Everyone seems to instantly transform into children who just have to play! People often walk across the lake, have snowballs fights on it, ice skate or play ice hockey! You can also reach the small islands in the middle that you can't get on otherwise. It's definitely a lot of fun and people really enjoy themselves. Sometimes, when there is enough snow, you can also see people cross-country skiing through the forest rather than taking a walk as usual. The City Forest is a very important place for recreation for Frankfurters anyway, but I think winter also makes it special somehow.
