Rockefeller Center Ice Rink.. wonderful sight to just visit

Arrived Friday 10/17 in New Jersy.  Took the train to Penn Station then walked to Time Square (not recommended with luggage).  checked into Crown Plaza in TIme Square then walked to Rockefeller Center.  Ice rink opened that day and it was AMAZING. Wish I could have stayed there longer and actually Ice Skated.

Sat 10/18. 2 hr lunch cruise on the "Spirit of New York". left from Chelsea Pier. Wonderful sightseeing and a great meal with out having to drive or walk.. this was definitely the highlight of the trip in my opinion from Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, New York skyline, to the Brooklyn Bridge.  Evening was a makeover at the Sophora store in Union Square then dinner at a Shanghai Square for Thai food.

Crown Plaza in Time Square where we stayed.. in the middle of renovations so not the grand entrance I was expecting but very nice rooms
Very Good. 9 E 13th St. bet 5th & University in Manhattan.  Wonderful bakery "Beard Papa's 740 Broadway really does have amazing cream puffs :-).

Sun 10/19 (my actual birthday).  shopping in Chinatown and Littly Italy.  Definitely should have taken a cab to get there. Way too much walking that day but went to the Broadway Show "Avenue Q" that evening.  Kinda like an adult version of Sesame Street-LOL.  it was funny but not my 1st pick of shows but the trip was about making everyone happy and that's what Barb wanted to see.  Dinner at O'Lunneys in Time Square was definitely the best dinner and New York Cheesecake in New York on my birthday was the best dessert ever!!!!!

Mon 10/20.  shopping 5ht Ave and Madison Ave all day for Lori made it possible to see a lot of sights and there was a fashing show at New York & Co with Carson Kressley that Lori wanted to go to and we got front row seats with free gifts and autographs and pictures.  Dinner back in Time Square at Retz Deli was very good.

Tues 10/21.  Took the subway to Central Park then to Grand Central Station.  Lunch at the Pershing Cafe right outside GCS was very good.  I really loved all the buildings and the architecture but my friends were more into the shopping than I was.  We were smart enough to just take a taxi from our hotel to Newark airport (splitting the cost in 4 wasn't bad and much easier the lugging out luggage around).  I must say I learned a lot from the trip and would know the best way to get around the next time and definitely some things I would do again!!!!

I am sooo jealous, I want to go back. Oh well, next year for sure.

Next time try the Top of the Rock, the best view of New York ever.

Glad you had a good time and a happy birthday. Lena & I just walk everywhere, or use the subway. We've learned to pack lite, so dragging luggage around is never an issue.
If you could, add a review on the hotel you stayed at so we can check it out for our next trip to NYC.
