Bellavista Lodge sells its rooms in a package.  The package includes all your meals and guided walks through the cloud forest.

Today Rachel and I went on our first guided walks.  Our guide was a very nice college student named Jorge (or George).  He hiked us around the cloud forest looking and looking for birds.  We did see a few but not very many.  Mostly we just saw darks shapes jumping around in the tops of the trees.  The coolest thing we saw was a couple of Andean Solitaire chicks in their nest, a simple hole scooped out of the soil of a steep bank.  We also went to see a pretty little waterfall.

There aren't very many guests at Bellavista right now.  Tonight at dinner there were 6 people.  One of the people currently staying at the lodge is Anika.  Anika is a Swedish graduate student who is preparing to write her masters theis on ecolodges by traveling around Ecuador staying at different ecolodges.  And to think, I spent most of my college days in the computer lab....

Anika is very funny.  One of the other guests, a Brit, snapped at us for scaring away the birds with our jokes and laughter.
