on the road again
Im going to tell this story the way i told it to Bschooled which drove her crazy cuz i would tell a bits of the story at a time cuz school, army right now are driving me crazy at the moment. Thank you guys, hope you enjoy reading this journey as I have been 'living' it..
LEAVING AMSTERDAM
I left Hoksbergen Hotel around 11am. This was the second time i stayed at this hotel, nothing special, I guess I just like the Singel area and i have that view of the canal. As mush as I enjoy visiting Amsterdam I realized that maybe I wont come back here again, i like to visit other places now and into the future
ARRIVING TO FRANKFURT
So i got in Frankfurt on a saturday evening and i didnt reserved anything so when i got to the Bahnhaupft i jus went outside, and walk straight across the street and looked up at a sign that said 'Frankfurt Hostel'.
My Canadian Travbuddy, whereever you are, thanks for the fun night in Frankfurt
i figured 'hey', why not stay here. i went inside and me and 2 other people squeezed into the lift to the 3rd floor where the Reception was located. okay, it said max 4 people but 3 people with backpacks....was uncomfortable.
i got there and asked for a single, there were none available so i had to fill stuff out and wait for the next available dorm.
HEY I JUST GOT HERE, WANNA GO OUT ON THE TOWN???
as i sat down, i sat next to a girl who was writing in her journal. i didnt think nuthing much of her, i just wanted to get to my room, dropped off my bag and either sleep the tiredness away OR since this was my last night in europe I should at least walk around town..i wasnt sure at this point. as i sat and wait for the hostel staff to check on the room she spoke.
"Where are you from?"
It took me be surprise, someone is talking in english, it been 2 days since i talked english, i said where i was from and she said she was from Canada. ( i thought of Bschooled, lol) I told her my plan was to drop my stuff off and go sightseeing, I invited her to come along and without hestitation she did! ha, I sure know how to pick up people, and it wasnt even 5 minutes yet...lol
Glühwein mmmmmhhhmmm @ FRANKFURT CROWDED Weihnachtsmärkte
Once we got out, we chatted as we both decided to look for the Weinnachtsmarkt, Christmas Markets. She didnt know any german so i asked someone working in the store in german where the christmas market is 'Wo ist Weinnachts Markt?', he told us to keep walking straight and i saw the lights!
She's a smoker and im a smoker, i told her we would get along fine : ) Once we followed a huge crowd heading toward the market there were hundreds of people there in this tiny area. Like literally all you could do is basically shuffle along with all the hundreds around you forward. I almost lost this girl a few times but I headed straight for one of the vendors selling Gluhewine. She never had it before, its like how eggnog is popular back in the States but rather spiced hot red wine wit a mix of cinnamon, vanilla and sugar. We paid 2,50 euro a piece but gave me coupons back cuz they serve it in cute mugs.
AFTER AN HOUR WE INTRODUCE OURSELVES
While there wasnt a space to stand and chat we managed to skirt through the crowd and find an empty place to drink and talk in a open outdoor store. I told her about my travels through Holland, she had jus came from Paris. She told me she experianced that the French did not like French Canadians accents, she would speak french but was immediately spoken back to english which she thought was frustrating. She then told me she was from Montreal. After bullshittin and waiting for the enormous crowd in front of us to speed up the process, we decided we go back to find sum more Gluhewine. but before we did, we had another smoke break.
she immediately asked me for my name. funny, we had been chatting like we use to hang out but never introduced each other. I told her my name was Jessica. She laughed, 'thats my name too', how strange and funny : )
we found sum more gluhewine for 50 cent cheaper, but hella stronger ( added rum i tasted : ) and we would drink, smoke and chat and we both decided we didnt want to fight the crowds anymore longer and we needed to go somewhere else. I said lets go find a bar and we immediately did...
PRETTY GIRLS AND OLD DRUNKEN GERMAN MAN DOING WEIRD NOSE POINTING....
ok me and Jess went into a bar, instantly hit on by drunken old germans who cant speak english, 2 of them, the old fuckin one did this whole pointing to his nose and then pointin with both index fingers at the other Jessica, then he got touchy-feely with her. I kept yelling at him like 'Neine, neine' 'dont do that!' He's lucky i wasnt drinking liquer, it wouldve been a bad night for him..
anyways me and the canadian we both would buy each other drinks, then these muthafuckas would try to buy us drinks, even tequila shots but we declined and he did one with the waitress with exagerrated Drew Carey-Mimi makeup on...scary like a clown...so me and her both decided this is too much, these guys are annoying lets get back to the hostel which has a bar there anyway
BACK TO THE HOSTEL, BUT FIRST LETS FINISH THIS BOTTLE OF .."i cant read this..it's in German :D'
its bout midnight so Jessica somehow walked away from the bar with a bottle of champagne and we're both still drinking it on our way to the hostel but we got lost and i tried to use my german but drunkenly its still bad....
Alright by this time we're back and hours past, this bar was crowded at the Hostel so you gotta mix and mingle, before you know it's 5am and im hungry!!!!!
As the crowd lessens I somehow find Jessica and shes been flirting with the Hostel boy who offered to give her 4 free stays if she "bunks" with him , lol hint-hint
When she sees me shes happy to see me and we continue chatting, as we're talking i find out shes a flight attendant based out of calgary, i reveal im a soldier and thats how we realised we're similar and alike in a way...
she told me someone took her leather jacket from her chair. it was gone and there was no way to try to recover it...so i let her borrow mine and i went back to my room to get another sweather to put over another sweater, i looked silly, haha.
MCDONALDS @ FRANKFURT MAIN TRAIN STATION
that poor gal, she was still drunk and she didnt care bout the damn jacket until i asked her if she had everything else like camera, passport. she said it was in her bag which she had been protecting wit her.
we went to mcdonalds at the Frankfurt main station and we we exchanged emails, chatted sum more and headed back to the hostel and I ordered an espresso and she ordered another beer ..at 7am haha, i had to get to sleep or nap until 900 so i can catch the train for the airport. I left her as she still kept flirting with the front desk boy..lol
i didnt see her when i left and dont even have anything from her, she told me her name but i forgot her last name. its okay, sumtimes you run into people in life and you never see them again. i have her picture i took of us but if she doesnt contact me...all i got are these memories : )
so the end.
im not partying with anymore canadians, haha, im serious.
Frankfurt Hostel
When I got to Frankfurt and left the Main BHF I didnt book a hotel or hostel so I figured I would settle on the first place i would see and across the street was a yellow sign 'Hostel'
This hostel set up is weird. The reception is on the 3rd floor and when u get in the elevator/ lift it feels like a death trap! : ) The sign says ' Maximum 4 people' but with 3 people with bags, jesus that was a tight squeeze...
Anyways this place is packed, I would have to say this is the one of the most popular Hostel in the Frankfurt Main city.
Another weird problem I had was my hostel key, when i got to my room I could not figure out how to get in, like an idiot I tried to slide the card along the door, (keyless entry) but someone was able to stop by and tell me I needed to press my key along the door button 'click' and it went green.
Nice bar, bunk beds are okay and they provide a towel.
Staff are friendly and multi-lingual. And the location is perfect if you have never been to Frankfurt before...cant really miss your train
