i feel good about eating kangaroo. they are all over the place here, are a nuisance to farmers, and they are wild. [and this, too: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7551125.stm]
the next day we trekked out for the beach. we went to megan's secret beach...and had the glorious squeaky sand and beautiful blue water to ourselves the whole day! oh, and the dolphins. :-D we explored a cave during low tide, filled with lusciously smooth rocks. after an amazing day of splashing around with megan, ben, andy and amy, we went to pick up lila from the arts factory [giant hippy hostel in byron] and got to work on yet another fabulous dinner - pesto, pasta, roasted nuts, and a few more bottles of wine.
pesto for brekky, with a little religion and a lotta spirituality on the side. amy and andy disappeared early, so megan, ben, lila and i went to the bangalow markets for some sweet cold beverages and mud. then...more beach! tried going to white's beach (everyone's secret beach) even though we all wanted to go back to the same beach as the day before. you know, try something new. don't get stuck. well, we started hiking down to the beach and the winds picked up and the sky grayed... so we went back to our special beach, and the sun was licking our bodies as the blue sky watched overhead. it was asking us to come back. NAKED! WOO! wine [yalumba shiraz viognier] and kangaroo and pesto pasta and brie and grapes for lunch. a full rainbow stretched across the sky, touching down in the middle of the water (you could actually SEE where it ended! no gold...but there were a few leprechauns)...and chased us away from the beach with its building rain punishment.
as always happens (all 2 times) with megan and ben - some refreshing rain to end a ridiculously unbeatably wonderful day.
