i'll post something exciting to read soon...promise. i've been very busy lately, and here's why....

What's this all about?
I have just joined forces with Himalayan Explorers, a new trekking company based in Dharamshala. Together with a few other like-minded people, we hope to bring something new to trekking in the Himalayas, formed around social and environmental responsibility, and an active involvement with local communities.

What's it like?

Himalayan Explorers is currently organizing and leading treks into the mountains in Himachal Pradesh, in northern India. I went on a five day trek with them a few weeks ago...wow. It was a life-changing, enriching experience, to say the least! The climax of the trip was the fourth day: 700 meters up, 1000 meters down, 10 hours of walking, 8 hours of snow, 8 brave souls...at almost 4000 meters above sea level. I have never challenged myself that much, never faced all those fears in one day...and now I can't wait to do it again! There is such a sense of discovery and possibility when you're the first to cross a mountain pass, breaking through fresh snow...and the sense of accomplishment afterward is a feeling that I will never forget.

It is because of this intense, magical opportunity for growth, learning and adventure that I want to share this with the world. We are hoping to form relationships with groups internationally where we can do cultural, educational exchanges, both with trekkers and our guides. Another addition that is in the works is yoga trekking, which is intending to pull every bit of physical, mental and spiritual benefit from trekking in the mountains.

How can you help?
We are just starting to build up our web presence. Please check out our website: http://www.himalayanexplorers.co.in/.
