5) Gresford Bells

Gresford Travel Blog › entry 6 of 8 › view trip summary

My journey to see the Seven Wonders of Wales. Rhyme: "Pistyll Rhaeadr and Wrexham steeple, Snowdon's mountain without its people, Overton Yew-trees, St. Winifred wells, Llangollen Bridge and Gresford bells"

5) Gresford Bells

Gresford Bells (All Saints Church), Gresford.

Sadly the vicar wasn't around, so I couldn't actually go and see the bells - you'll have to imagine what eight bells, weighing 4.7 tonnes in total, look like. The first church was built here in the 13th century and has been modified a number of times after. There is a giant yew tree in the grounds, that was apparently planted in 400AD.

There's a nice pub just across from the church, called the Yew Inn. I would have sampled some of the local beers, but I was driving.
