2) St Winefride's Well

Holywell Travel Blog › entry 3 of 8 › view trip summary

My journey to see the Seven Wonders of Wales. Rhyme: "Pistyll Rhaeadr and Wrexham steeple, Snowdon's mountain without its people, Overton Yew-trees, St. Winifred wells, Llangollen Bridge and Gresford bells"

2) St Winefride's Well

The SatNav left me in a lay-by about five miles away from Holywell, thinking that it had done its job for the day. Oh no, you haven't. I managed to figure out where to go from there and picked up the signs to the well.

It's a bit of a sham, as the well water is actually mains water - as the well had been disturbed by mining going on in the area. It's still a nice building and I'm sure the pilgrims won't notice that the water isn't from the well directly.
