today i plan to go to the schönbrunn castle, i was there 2 years ago, but it woulndt hurt revisiting places that i like. yesterday was too much for me, i spent about 13 euros for the 72 hours ticket which i should have bought only 48 hours, 10 euros for kfc, 6 euros at starbucks and 37 euros for the train to budapest so thats about 66 euros ONLY FOR ONE DAY AND I DONT EVEN PAY FOR MY STAY! thats too much!
so i need to control my expenditures today, i still have noodles that i have so i will ate them and today, before heading to schönbrunn castle, i decided to eat at a filipino restaurant in vienna, which i am very excited about! i ate there the last time i was in vienna, and they were all surprised that i can speak filipino, because they thought i was a foreigner! hahahahhaa but i found it sweet.
i still remember how to go there, it is also located where the philippine embassy is, at schwedenplatz, i had to change line at landstrasse station, and its a good thing, because the subway going there is also the subway to schönbrunn, saves lots of time!
the line going there is called u4, this is my favorite subway line of all, as it is not underground, but most of the time it goes up, together with u1, so i can see some parts of vienna from 5-10 meters above the ground which is great!
but unfortunately, the rain would not stop! it was raining like cats and dogs, and i am worried, because in the castle, there are no shades, well except for the castle in case it wont stop raining.
i arrived in schwedenplatz at about 1 pm, and i went up and there were lots of filipinos there already, waiting for the buffet of food which was only 6 euros eat all you can, but unfortunately, the food hasnt arrived yet, and i am hungry, but they have these chinese buns called siopao in the philippines, it bloody costed 2 euros each, but i miss eating them ^_^ so i ate one and bought 4 more and also bought 5 century eggs! hahahaha so much for not spending so much money - but hey, i couldnt get this in düsseldorf!
i chatted with some filipinos there, and here it goes again, the dramas of life, all the hardships they endure working 24/7 in vienna just to send money for their families back in the philippines, again the guilt swept over me as i am spending money here and there for my hobby which is traveling which costs a lot of money.
from schwedenplatz to schönbrunn, it will take me 10 stops, but it doenst matter as most of the time, as i said earlier, the subway is not located underground.
at schönbrunn, everythign did not changed for 2 years, it was still the same, and the way to the castle is also the same, the only difference was that theres not much tourists like the last time, the weather was really bad for sightseeing and walking.
at the entrance to the castle, i am still awed by the grand of it and honoring the icon of vienna, the empress elisabeth.
so anyway, you might be wondering, that i kept talking about the empress all the time, who is she what is her family?
empress elisabeth by birth is not austrian, but bavarian (that time, germany was not yet reunificated, and was splitted into small kingdoms) and you can find the information here, she married her cousin, the emperor of austria, emperor franz josef, where they had a son, crown prince rudolf.
walking through the castle, i decided to go up the gloriette, a hill located at the castle grounds, but before even i was there, damn it. i need to find a toilet! but i couldnt find one! and the trees and bushed are still leafless, so i couldnt hide! hahahahaha and i was in the open space and i would look too suspicious if i ran fast towards some needle trees. but walking middle paced i reached the needle trees on time and there, i peed ^_^ hahahaha.
at the top of the gloriette, it was the first time i was there, it was amazing! i can see the the castle from below and vienna beyond! unfortunately, the weather was really so bad, i was only for a short moment at the top, and of course it is winter, the fountains are only open in late spring and summer.
the labyrinth and maze too are closed, the only open was the vienna imperial zoo, but its too expensive - 10 euros, and im sure the animals are in the hibernating period so it will be a waste of money.
i need to rest, because tomorrow, i will go to budapest, hungary early in the morning but i will arrive there in the afternoon so, 3 hours of train ride.
then i got an sms, my friend thomas lukas or better, lukas invited me to have some fun in vienna, but, he will come home late as he is studying in baden which is about an hour away from vienna. so what to do?
because i have to wake up early, super early tomorrow because west bf which my train from vienna to budapest is leaving is 13 stops in the subway station from my place, then lukas replied that i can sleep in his flat because its only 10 mins.
so i went home and had dinner with ariel, as he kept eating my noodles. hahahaha. so i started to pack my stuff in my small pack, and i brought with my my thick jacket and hooded pullover, as they always say, it's always colder in eastern europe! the problem was, my backpack was so small that i crammed everything inside it! i was scared that it might just burst! hahaha
i will go to lukas at about 12 am hahah, weird hour but the subway closes at 1:00 am so theres plenty of time. but i am sure, again that this would be another adventure! because i am not scared in vienna! ^_^
