baguio is the summer capital of the philippines, the city was built by an american architect or engineer? im not sure anymore as my philippine history is slowly fading. it was built atop a mountain at an altitude of 2000 meters. the climate is eternal spring, it can never get as high as 28-28°c in the day and the temperature drops as low as 15°c at night even in the dead heat of summer! the city is truly an escape to the hot and humid temperatures of the lowlands and manila! but not only that, the city also produces thousands of varieties of european flowers and strawberries for its cool temperature year round, with lots of wagwagan (flea markets at really bargain prices!) plus the fact that it is an art and alternative city with abundance of sculptures made from pine trees! whew! thats why baguio is my favorite city in the philippines! countless times i hade been here and seems it always put excitement in me although the city is not that big!
but not this time, because ben and me wouldnt stay in baguio, because we planned that we go straight to the bus station going to sagada and ride from there.
but then, i think baguio would really really like me to visit and spend time with her again, as i couldnt go directly to sagada anymore, because i am going to faint with lack of sleep, before getting out of the bus, ive been meaning to tell ben about it. as were nearing the bus station of victory liner at baguio, i told ben about my dillema, and he couldnt argue more, as he told me that lack of sleep and dizziness made him feel the same way, he got altitude sickness as we rode too fast and suddenly we were at an altitude of 2000 meters. there was no way to adjust in difference of 500 meters slowly.
after we got out of the station, i know exactly where to book a hostel for a cheap price, as ive been there countless times if i am in baguio! SILVERTONE INN!
we flagged a taxi from the station to malcolm square, it is a very noisy square full of bars with karaoke and videoke! arrrghhh but it doenst matter! because it is the center of everything! walking distances to burnham park, the bus station to sagada, the famous and ever busy session road, the malls and every establishments which are in the center of baguio city!
after the taxi brought us to malcolm square, eventhough i was sleepy i was so overjoyed to see baguio city again! it hadnt really changed after 5 years!
we got a little bit lost as we tried to find the inn! but nevertheless we found it! it was about 6:30 in the morning and quite busy on the streets! as we got up, the lady in the reception was sleeping and when we woke her up, she was really startled it looks as though she will hit us! hahahaha.
then we asked for a double room but with common toilets, we dont need any luxury as were only staying for the day and mostly out.
after we checked in, we wnt outside to have some breakfast, but some stores are still closed coz its to early but on session road, we found jollibbee fastfood that serves breakfast! we went there and ordered, but as soon as i started to bite my food, my tootache got really bad! it was fucking painful! ive put in the back of my head to go to a dentist if i ever see one in baguio!
after our breakfast, we decided to explore the city, we went to burnham park with lake you can go boating and i told ben to look at the boats with strange shapes of dragons, cartoon characters, animal etc! which were really tacky! hahaha and i told ben that if anyone fell into the algae infested lake, they would never be the same again! hahahahahaha.
as were walking around the lake surrounded by weeping willow trees, ben told me that he really really like baguio! the people and the city are more relaxed rather than manila, it isnt the hustle and bustle that you would exprience in the capital! im glad!
next stop we took a taxi to the summer residence of the president of the philippines! i like taking taxis in baguio city because the taxi drivers are really really honest!
we went to the summer residence, after that we took a short walk towards the most touristic area of baguio city, called "mines view" a viewdeck where one can see the gold and silver mines in the city plus the horizon of the mighty cordillera mountains! after laughing at the poor ponies with pink dyed hairs, we went into the flea market where all imaginable filipino ingenuities you can find, then we stumbled into the street food area! and i saw fishballs! i dont care if ben wouldnt like it but i want to eat it! i ordered about 15 pieces or 10 of it, i cant remember but after it was cooked and the vendor put some sauce into it, it was like manna from heaven! i miss eating it!
after wading through the flea market, we rode a jeepney back to the summer residence and explore the botanical gardens.
after that sir picture sir episode we went to the botanical gardens, nothing much because most of the flowers were already cultivated for the flower festival that took place before we came, then suddenly my tooth really ached and no ibuprofen can handle it and dizzines took toll on ben and we headed back, at session road, i spotted a dentist and i dont care if ben was already tired i told him i am going there! so he said he will come with me. at the dentist, i explained my problem and she took a look at it and the only solution was fucking extraction. but before that, the dentist was really chatty, we chatted more than the time she extracted my tooth! hahahaha! it took an hour at the dentist but she was really nice! and her assistant was her daugher who was like 12 years old! whattafuck?! hahahaha!
back at the inn, we went directly to bed and said goodnight at 11 am! hahahaha, i slept with my mouth bleeding with a cotton ball on it!
when i woke up, i wasnt suprised that my pillow was stained with blood! hahaha.
we wandered for some time inside the mall, then we decided to sit in a cafe, in which starbucks was in reach, i was cold because it was really chilly in high summer in babuio so i ordered hot green tea of course! we chilled for a bit, then decided to get more sleep, so we headed back to the inn, but first, i asked ben if we could go to the bus terminal and see if i can remember the way, yup i did and the terminal going to sagada is still there, so we went back to the inn and ben took a shower in the dirty common toilet, while me not, i dont care, ill take a shower when were in sagada!
i smoked for a bit before heading off to bed!
