a tale of pride and prejudice and sailing the philippine seas!
April 28, 2009
on the way to agho!
then we drove into a small road leading into someone's house. when we got off and carried our things, men came and help us unload so many things.
the house was really huge for a normal family in iloilo province and it is situated right beside the beach! it was high tide, the sea water was above a few centimeters from the ground, good thing ben and me wore shorts and slippers.
again on the way to agho!
then after some minutes, i was the most stupidest person in the face of the earth and i just wanted the ground to swallow me with embarrasment!
the woman who was driving the van was THE DAUGHTER OF THE MAYOR of the town and the guy that kept singing at the back was her cousin who were students of manay lala and the little girl was the grand daughter of the mayor. who graciously invited us to show-off their hometown in iloilo province.
oh my god, i was really really really red with embarassment. i could die in front of them seriously.
apprently they also not invited us to their hometown, but also invited me and ben to the private island they own - agho island.
now i just couldnt take it. forgive me by writing this over and over again, its just that my pride really took me and what a judgemental person i am. i could never forgive myself.
then it was time to load things into the big boat the family owned. we have porters too. apprently they were the ones who were "waiting" for us, not the hundred people i was expecting to jump all over on us. that made me feel more tinier than ever.
we boarded the huge boat! me and ben, manay lala, the daughter of the mayor which i still dont know the name, her cousin and her daughter - inday.
i felt uncomfortable at the beginning because of my bratty attitude but seeing ben's face made me smile. his face - eyes wide and mouth open! ahahaha well it was his first time in southeast asia and experience a "banca" ride!
we passed so many islands along the way! there was this huge island that they said a famous actor in the philippines owns! wow! he must be rich as it is a huge island!
then we passed the curious shaped island with a lone mountain on it, i asked what it was! hahahah they said to me, its called isla pan de azucar! well its really intriguing.
i was curious to see the island of agho, it took us more or less an house of philippine style boat ride to go there!
but inside me, i was still deeply deeply deeply embarassed about my atititude. whatever it cost this trip, i will surely pay it!
