good morning and goodbye anawangin, you will never be the same again.
May 3, 2009
it was so hard to sleep! first, it was so hot and humid, we were like sardines inside the tent! i asked ben to open the tent so that air would come in! but he doenst want to! it was different when we camped in the mountains where we were freezing cold! ahahaha, so i said to ben to open that ventilator in the tent to let the air in! then second it was so noisy! even if we were hidden in the woods, we can hear the noise of some drunken people! arrghhh they were shouting in the middle of the night! i dont know what but i was so annoyed! but from the events of the day, my body really gave in and i fell asleep!
we set the alarm at 5 am! we both stood up and we had such a good sleep although we were disturbed in the middle of the night. while ben was preparing the fire for our breakfast, i took a look at our clothes in the hanger if they were dry. so i gathered them up and folded them. after our water boiled we ate noodles again for breakfast. but i cant finish everything, because its too early for me, so i just nibbled some crackers that we had.
was still early, about 5:30 am. yes, thats how fast we move. so we went to the beach, the light was still bluish because the sun hasnt risen yet.
then ben took out his tshirt and said he wanted to dip and swim at the beach, so isaid thats fin with me, but i dont want to, because i am dry and were heading off to camara island later anyway.
as ben was swimming in the beach, anawangin was so peaceful with most of the campers still sleeping! and i am so amazed at myself! since i came to the philippines, sleeping before 10 or 11 pm and wkaing up at 4-5 am was not a problem for me! i think its the air pressure, because in europe im always having a hard time sleeping!
after ben finished his laps and we gathered our things, i was a little bit scared and told him, what if the boatman doenst come back?! our flight was due in 3 days! it would be ugly if we got stranded here! ahaha although it is beatufiul, i dont wanna miss my flight! and i told ben i forgot how our boatman looked liked! i cant remember his face! ahahaha.
it was about 6 am, suddenly, a man came out from the shadows walking towards us, i was scared! because i didnt realized it was our boatman! ahahahaha he greeted us with a smile! he was early to fetch us up! but thats good!
as we gathered all our things and detach kermit's pegs, our boat man - rico said he will wait for us at the shore. so ben and me carefully packed our things as we must not forget our things, i gave my ben my wallet and digital things and he kept it in his waterproof bag.
when we got to the shore, rico said that we have to pay 50 pesos each for the use of the campsite and for cleaning maintenance of anawangin. i asked ben to give me my wallet! ahaahha, and i paid for the two of us.
the activity in anawangin is just starting with the campers already awake, but me and ben had already started our day and next is our last adventure in the philippines! in camara island! ben asked me if he could sit in the front because the way to anawangin i sat in the front and ben was über jealous of that because i had all the fun sailing the high waves! ahahaha
seeing anawangin for the last time, i felt sadness for her. because the place is really beautiful and pristine, it is an out of this world beach in the philippines, it stands out because of its uniquness, as i might say it is an orange in the middle of apples.
sadly, the place is becoming more and more commercialistic, and people just dont know how to care and protect the environment and i have to say this, anawangin, is a beach for campers, hikers and mountaineers, it is not a family beach, it saddens me that familes go here to bring their children and their entire kin withouth knowing the dangers that anawangin might bring.
anawangin is endangered. i would give anawangin 2 more years, and it will be a commercial beach, for sure, it is still difficult to go there as you have to cross barren mountains but there are boats and boatmans that will really gamble bringing people to anawangin even if the weather is stormy, thats why lots of boats had already capsized in the middle of the sea.
anawangin, i thank the opportunity that i visited you in your real state, but i am not sure i will be be back because you will never be the same again.
