March 31st, 2009 – by: lauro
it all started with my good friend lori who was with me when i was in spain/portugal, came for a visit bringing along one of my travbuddy friend, matthew because they booked a flight to se asia from düsseldorf, germany.
so we set a date, march 31, 2009, but i told them i can only met them in the evening as i have to work till 7 pm, but my boss let me off early at 4pm, so i met lori and mat at the rhein promenade while they were having beers already.
it was nice, no not nice, but i was so full of joy to met lori again as i miss her and the spain/portugal gang so much. so there we were at a beer garden, then met mat who i am chatting for a while.
me, a filipino, lori a canadian and mat and english (ok british! hahaha) already was an amazing group of people together.
so at the beer garden we decided to go to the hostel where the guys were staying and matthew and lori will cook british or ok ok ok english food for us!
along the way to the hostel, i passed by starbucks, and i know one good friend works there, who also happens to be a member of travbuddy! lucian from romania! i peep through the door and found him and i called his name so loud! hahahaha he was so excited to see me again after we celebrated karneval! he motioned for us to came in, and he asked what do we want at starbucks for free! hahahahaha amazing with these connections ^_^
and it got more and more interesting as lori remembered lucian from the düsseldorf meet up but lucian couldnt remember hahaha and matthew and lucian were friends in travbuddy but they dont even talk to each other! hahaha
so i only had green tea while mat and lori got cappucino?! and we invited lucian after his work to come with us and have beer in schauckelstülchen, my favorite bar in düsseldorf.
we passed by aldi, and lori and mat bought some ingredients and stuff, they were going to cook sausage, peas and mashed potato with gravy hmmmmm!
at the hostel, we went to the kitchen, we were there first, then suddenly two young girls came in. i didnt knew their nationality but as they spoke, i knew they were germans.
as we were waiting for lori and mat to finish cooking, because the girls apprently want to cook too, we chatted for a while, they were studying animal care in one of the schools here in düsseldorf, i got to know romina, who lives in the state of rheinland pfalz and sandra who lives in the border of nordrhein westfalen and rheinland pfalz states in germany. it was an amazing talk with them, specially romina who is very chatty!
mat invited them to have dinner with us, as the food was plenty! it was a feast of english dinner, i must say, the mashed potatoes with gravy is fucking yummy! hahaha well i am not surprised as lori who helped matt, is a very good cook!
after our dinner, they washed the dishes, while i picked up lucian at starbucks which was just on the corner of the hostel.
together we set out for some drinks in the bar, it was amazing for me, here i am, from the philippines, surrounded by germans, a canadian, an english and a romanian! it was too good to be true. as i feel i am not anymore a citizen of the philippines nor a resident of germany, but a person living in this world.
lori, it was so amazing to see you again and matt, i was glad to finally meet you and talk to you, i hope you guys hava a blast in se asia starting tomorrow!
lucian thanks for the recommendation to the romanian embassy for me to have a visa, i would look like your little nephew while you drag me to the romanian embassy in bonn! hahahahaha
romina and sandra, you didnt know how i find it interesting that germany has poisonous snakes! hahahahah i will remember that!
thank you guys for a great evening!
