me and ben in the battle truck! ^_^
after an hour of roadtripping across the southern part of iloilo province, the coasts, the fields, coconut trees and curious people looking at us, we made it to our 2nd stop! in the municipality of guimbal.

ben never felt relieved going out of the battle truck as he was getting car sick, from the bumpy and zig zag road.  me too, my butt was getting tired from sitting, i need to stretch and walk.

manay boogie asked us what do we want to do, on the other side is the beach and on the other is a some-kinda zoo. well, the weather is cloudy, and ben kept bragging that he worked on the zoo before, so we decided that we go to the some-kinda zoo.

as usual manay boogie paid everything for us in the entrance fee, so me, ben, palangga and rommel were all taken care of.
my aunt paying everything!

i already had a feeling that this isnt gonna be a pretty sight. because one thing, the government of philippines doenst really take care or provide good housing, nutrition and animal needs for the zoo. when i was still in the philippines, i worked part time in the philippines most modern equipped zoo, the avilon montalban zoological park that zoo is privately owned, so the animals are really in tip top shape provided by actual cages or lets say miniature habitat. the last time i was there many sears ago, they had a jaguar, tapir, ocelot, mamoset, howling monkeys and exotic animals from south america! my god!

but by actually seeing the some-kind of zoo here in guimbal, i felt a pang of pity specially for the bear car, the wild boar and dogs with their puppies.
the "exotic birds" area.
the bear cat is a nocturnal animal. it needs to feed in the dark but it was caged in broad daylight, while the wild boar was soooo fat! it would burst out of its small cage! it can heardly move!!! but my heart went out for the dogs and their puppies! they look look hungry and thirsty.

we hanged around for less than an hour as i couldnt stand it anymore. the some-kind of zoo apprently has a swimming pool in it where you pay to swim, a big one. it looks like its taking care of the pool rather than the poor animals. well, they earn much money for the pool and people patronize it more rather than the zoo.

so, i had enough and i said i am hungry and its time for lunch! well not really lunch as it was only 10:30 am! so a bit of a snack!

as we left guimbal, and the poor animals, i really couldnt help and wonder, how the government of the philippines is so corrupt, putting more budget on some unecessary things, while it can promote a major tourism by having a unique diversity of fauna, since the country is detached from continental asia.

a bit dissapointing, really.
