Firenze: Apartment
May 21, 2006
We had an interesting apartment. While the guys got to stay in an older place, we girls got a 4 story dorm type apartment. Each floor had a communal kitchen/living area and there was a looong hallway. An interesting thing was that the windows didn't have screens on them. I LOVE that fact a lot, the only downside is it gets really warm and you want to keep the windows open, but their tiger mosquitos leave HUGE bug bites on you, which is really annoying. There were three bedrooms, each housing 4 beds and a bathroom. It was situated around a sort of courtyard. All the furniture was Ikea and modern looking. It was nice and clean. We all shared a washer and dryer that you paid to use as well. We lived on a wonderful street, Via Ricasole. It was right near the Accademia as well as il Duomo. So we were right in the heart of the city. It was really a great spot. We lived over a restaurant, a block away from a grocery store and just down the street from a bunch of cool shops. There were internet cafes all over the place, which was great as well. There was even seller down the street who took a liking for Trista, but once she brushed him off the first week it was a little awkward to see him around all the time when we walked past his store and even when he would be hanging out around the gellaterias and restaurants nearby. It really is a lot like a community.
