Staying at the Cosmopolitan Hotel (it isn't), as Bazil's YHA was full :(
Think I'll head to Greymouth tomorrow and catch the TranzAlpine to Christchurch. Weather is turning nasty, so not sure I have time or the inclination to go right to the bottom of N.Z.
I'm reading Captain Cook at the moment, really interesting as I've been following in some of his footsteps - especially the Endeavour mission to find Australia. Quite a lot of the places in N.Z were named by his voyage.
