Sirmione
Sirmione is Known for its nice views and historic buildings. In the early days the rich people from Verona bought a house in Sirmione. People live there since the 6th or 7th century. The poet Valerius Catullo had a house in Sirmione. You can visit the ruins of the house. Walking towards the house you feel like an ancient roman, because the sandy path with little rocks, olive trees, primitive stairs, you really feel like you are living a life long ago! The view from above, looking upon the lake Garda is beautiful.
Maria Callas ( her real name was: Maria Anna Sophie Cecilia Kalogeropoulos) has lived here, she was a great opera singer in Italia and far beyond that! In fact she was famous all over the world. She actually lived a very sad life. After Aristoteles Onassis has left her for Jacky Kennedy she took an overdossis of sleepingpills. She died 16 december 1977 in Paris.
