This is one of the loveliest places in Italy. When i was about 16 it was the first time i met Sirmione. That was the moment i kept comming back. We were lucky we could rent a private house over there. In Colombare thats the suburb from sirmione. The first day we arrived with the children we wanted to walk to the castle of sirmione. We started to walk and to walk and to walk. It was much further than we expected. It is just the long narrow road towards the castle. That could not be so far! Although it did! In Sirmione itself there are a lot of expensive shops, a lot of Gelateria's (on every corner). After entering the first gate you wil see the castle which you can visit. When you enter the second gate, on your left there is a big square.
Sometimes there is music. But i'll always have an icecoffee. But be carefull it is very expensive here! When you walk straight ahead (watch our for the cars which are going to their hotels, other cars are not allowed there!) you will find more shops. Further on you turn right, follow the road, you wil see on your right hand the house of Maria Callas. She was a very famous opera singer. Follow this road and you can choose to see the ruins, or you go down towards the lake. On your right hand you can have a drink or so. When you walk left along the lake side you will smell sulpher. There is a warm water well with sulpher. It seems to be good for your skin. A little bit further there is a real good pizeria. La Bionda. You have a nice view in the evening across the lake. Relaxing!
Enterance to the house we were staying in.
