Much better first impression, to that of L.A. Airport had good notices, especially about where our baggage might arrive. Public transport great - BART from airport straight into Downtown for $5 - why can't L.A have something similar?! Just trying to figure out what to do for the next week or so; I'd like to go to Yosemite Park. 3/11 There's a pretty good Da Vinci exhibition on at the Sony Metreon - dominated by a breakdown of the Mona Lisa. Fisherman's Wharf - bit like Southend-on-Sea - with fog, Mexicans and lots of tacky shops selling replica goods. Aquarium - pretty dated now, could do with a big refurbishment. Leopard Sharks are good to see (and touch). Alcatraz - pre-book your tickets over the internet, otherwise you'll be standing in a queue, then have to wait for the next sailing. Buy your ticket in advance- then you can just stroll in.
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is fantastic. Quite a few of the exhibitions are transitory, so what you see when you go may be different. Saw a frozen BMW hybrid car of some kind that was pretty odd. I think it was some kind of environmental message, but how much electricity was it using, to keep it frozen?
Something else about S.F - lots of homeless people.
