Could I be going to Tucson, Arizona in another week and a half
OK, I'm getting too excited ... starting a Tucson Blog and I haven't even step foot on my flight ...
OH OH .... what is up!!!!!!!!!!!
5:45am; Dan is trying his best to get me up ... after all, today I’m flying to Tucson for my 4th TB Meet-Up and to see the surrounding areas in Arizona! Well, I finally dragged my legs out of bed, I jumped into the shower and then Dan and I headed off to the Calgary Airport, after he heads off to work ... thank-goodness everything was pre-packed!
7:05am; Traffic was moving rather quickly today, so I was able to relax and ‘enjoy the ride’ taking in the Calgary scenery; as we approached the sounds of aeroplanes were all abound.
7:45am; Dan carried my luggage in and my backpack ... can’t forget my laptop, I still have TB obligations while out of the country LOL. I approached the United Airlines check-in and for some reason it seem very empty; checked my watch, PHEW I thought, I was 1hour and 15minutes ahead of schedule, so-I-thought. The United Airlines rep said, sorry but you are 5 minutes late for check-in, you’ll have to go to Air Canada where you originally bought your United Airline ticket and discuss it with them!
7:55am; I looked at Dan and quickly went to Air Canada to book the next flight to Tucson; I must have waited ½ hour before being called then it took 2 hours for the Air Canada rep to find me an empty plane .
.. I asked her “...why I was sent here...” she replied, “I think United Airlines overbooked today...” NICE, like what the.... As if, why me, this has never happened, etc. COOLED myself down inside and decided then, while Dan searched the net in the airport, that I’d just book the next flight to Tucson, I have TONS of money LOL ... Strange how my flight was leaving at 8:50am and they still wouldn't let me board
8:55am; The next available flight to Tucson was after 8pm landing in San Francisco (first class), but it would arrive around mid-night, she said, and I’d have to wait till early morning to fly out to Tucson ... a $2000.00 flight to sleep in an airport and not even reach my destination on time, hmmmm, no way, forget it. I insisted she look for another flight and she said she found a flight out of Calgary (8am~Oct7th,2008)) for $1050/one way into Phoenix, Arizona at 11am.
So in that moment I snapped up the ticket back seat only left and now I look forward to tomorrow mornings flight ...
9:55; Two hours after all this rearranging, I called Harriet from the Calgary Airport, she thought this was all a farce on the airlines part and she even recommended I call the police ... well, I am upset but no I won’t get the cops involved ... her heart was in the right place and she was on the phone practically apologizing for all I had to go through ... I must say, “ boy, I am either determined or just very stubborn, or both”... So today’s Arizona hills was in the cold region of South/Eastern Alberta, no longer was I on my way to Tucson so I joined Dan (my hubby) in his salesman job. He drove from Calgary to Hanna, Alberta and by-passing Drumheller, Alberta (Badlands-where many Dinosaurs were discovered) ... here’s some pics of the Badlands, I guess you could say instead of flying, I was still touring a new part of Canada, while pondering the whole 'airport and ticket' thing.
10:20am; After booking a new ticket and talking with Harriet, we left the airport so Dan could now reach his destination, a power-sporting dealer in Hanna, Alberta then later onto Drumheller, Alberta ... just where I wanted to go instead of Arizona LOL; quickly hopped in the car and, paid $17.50 for parking, then ‘of course’, Dan missed the on-ramp and I thought, boy just another thing gone wrong today!
11:30am; Then Dan and I went through a Tim Horton’s (coffee drive through) starving, we asked for two large coffees and two cheese tea-biscuits ... left the drive through and noticed they only put in 1 tea-biscuit in the bag ... what is happening to me today ... we finally reached Hannah, Alberta where we sat and had lunch in an old cafe ...
2:00pm; I’m wishing, to myself, that I was at Harriet’s house.
It’s now 2:40pm and instead of chatting and gossiping with Harriet, I’m sitting in the car looking at many barren fields and heading towards Drumheller, Alberta his final destination today, where his next dealer is located, before we head back home to Calgary. I type away and trying to keep my tired eyes opened and ponder about getting up tomorrow at 4:30am (instead of 5:45am) to be at the airport at 5 or 5:30am so that I’m plenty early to ‘jump on my flight’ and arrive in Phoenix, Arizona (no flights into Tucson) ... I’m hoping to find a ride into Tucson or Harriet did mention she’d come and pick me up after the pre-meet-up ... perhaps I can just take a bus, or book a limo ... It would be just nice to be where I’m supposed to be with Harriet and TB friends, at this my 4th TB meet-up!
See you all very soon!!!!!!!!!!!
p. s Hope tomorrow is better than today ,,, but I feel all things happen for a reason!!
