I never liked the idea of going on holiday to a beach destination and party every night, get drunk to bed (if you make it) and lay down on the beach burning your skin until it's dinner time and after that party time again... Not my kind of holiday, so I never went on holiday with my friends...
What made me change my mind???? My brother did. Unbelievable, but that's a different story. Normally my brother and I don't get along at all. Not just a little, but a lot! He's 1,5 year younger and totally the opposite of me... So what do I do?? I go on holiday with my brother to the beach destination Alanya in Turkey...
Why???? Well, friends of my brother booked an expensive holiday and he didn't have that much money and his new gf already booked a holiday before they met.

.. I felt sorry for him and decided to go on a cheap vacation. We went to a travel agency and the cheapest option we had was a seven-day holiday to Alanya...

Late afternoon we took the train to Amsterdam Schiphol to fly with Martin Air to Antalya, Turkey. Arriving at the airport and picking up our back the airport crew wondered what was inside my flightbag. My brother thought to be funny and answered before I could that it was a bodybag... Actually it was a funny answer but not for the guy who wanted to check my bag. He took us apart and I to open my flightbag. The guy almost checked every thing inside and finally we could get our visa and get on the transfer bus to the hotel... Thanks bro!!
More than two hours later we arrived at Alanya.

Our hotel was a half an hour walk from the city centre, but that was oke. A little tired after the flight we arrived at the hotel and checked in. We had to tell the receptionist very clearly that we were brother and sister and wanted separate beds... In the room it was hot, but with the windows open it was acceptable... until 6am... Traffic!! It seemed to be rush hour so early!! We tried to sleep a little more, but that was impossible. You had to pay extra money for the A/C and first we decided we were fine without, but then we got the room the street side... So we changed our mind.
After breakfast the tour operator came to us and we booked some guided tours: together we did the quad driving and the jeep tour and I also booked a sailing boat trip and a massage...

The quad tour was great! After practicing a little while we went into the forrest and sandy areas for some more speed and fun.

We weren't allowed to cross the small streams, but of cours we did. You need to be dirty after driving a quad!
The jeep tour was amazing too! A whole day crossing the forrest, the mountains and the hills. Having lunch at a beatiful spot with fresh water and good food. On the way a lot of beautilful views. Luckily we sat in the first jeep. All the cars behind us were 'biting the dust'! Hahaha!
The sailing tour was really relax! Leaving from the harbor of Alanya, sailing out on the ocean and into bays was the best! Nice music on the boat, swimming in the clear blue water and tanning on the deck! What a perfect day!
The massage was one I never forget. I thought that I booked a nice and relaxing massage... First I had to go to a room at the rear side of the hotel where I had to climb over all kind of stuff for fixing broken things of the hotel.
An older man showed up telling me he was the one giving me the massage... Oke... I told him I just wanted my back and shoulders done. He said the Turkish massage was more than that, otherwise the body can't relax all the way.... No, just my shoulders and back. When he finally accepted that he gave me a massage that felt like a truck was driving me over... I was happy the massage was finished after half an hour... Never again!

Besides the tours I gave myself over to the beach style holiday. I went partying five out of seven nights, went two days to beach and just lay there sunning (not getting burned), got drunk twice and eat a lot of cheap food, which I really enjoyed...
I must admit that I had a great time! Alanya's nightlife is really a lot of fun. Music for every one.

The harbor area is the place to be. We didn't do anything cultural and I liked it :-)

Going on holiday with my brother wasn't a success though... At day two he got sick of being sunburned quite bad. At day four he was better, but then he jumped in the water with his phone in his pocket, so from that time he was pissed because he couldn't contact his gf. And by day five he was broke and stayed at the pool of the hotel. But non the less, I enjoyed myself very much.
Still, it's not the type of holiday I prefer, but now I know where people are talking about when they had a great holiday, but can't remember anything of it because the alcohol killed all their brain cells and errased their memories... Fortunately, I still remember every thing I did :-)
