Wow...today was here - the infamous San Pedro tradition of the Wednesday night Chicken Drop! Silvina and I had decided to chill out at the hotel and pool during the day since we were supposed to be at the happy hour prior to the drop at 4pm. Two females getting ready...we needed to start by 1pm...ha ha!
As always, Mark was early and we were not ready to go just yet! I was online chatting with a certain TB halfway around the world about the upcoming TB meet in Arizona a group of us are attending. Ok, time to go and Silvina and I ran downstairs, only about 15 minutes behind schedule! LOL. Mike and Michelle were coming too which was our first time all attending the Chicken Drop. We got to the Pier Lounge which was a rather small bar and staked out our spots and enjoyed the 2 for 1 rum specials until 6pm.
Mark was very excited as Dennis Wolfe was playing under the canopy on the beach. For those who belong to the Belize group on TB, Mark often posts stories/articles from Dennis's column. Mark had to run down and talk wich him which I managed to get a photo from a distance. Mike was kind enough to go down and take pics of them performing since we couldn't really get good ones from up on the bar area. Silvina and I decided it was shots time and the waitress suggested coconut rum and something...Bailey's perhaps? Silvina will have to refresh my memory! LOL
Soon it was time to buy numbers for the drop and unfortunately, you could not choose your numbers, only random draws from the jar!! Sorry to Mel and Wendy who both wanted 8 and Brett who wanted 11.
As we were sitting around waiting for the next drop, we saw our friend Russell...surprise surprise! LOL. He brought over another dive master for us to meet and it turned out to be our TB friend Wendy's friend, Michael. I was excited to meet him after hearing about him from Wendy and Russell. He was super sweet and I had to get a pic with him for her since she couldn't end up joining us!!! :-(
The second drop was not going to be for awhile and everyone was getting hungry so they started to leave.
Because the darn chicken pooped between two numbers, we had to share the prize which meant we were both cleaning up the poop! She tried to hand it to me and go off but we ended up going together to dump the poop in the trash.
We ended up going over to Elvi's Kitchen a couple blocks away to meet up with the gang for dinner at that point. Now as payback for my little chicken poop, I opted to try their famous fried chicken. HA HA HA. Sorry buddy! After dinner we said our goodbyes to Mike and Michelle, Jan and Kim, and Mark, Silvina, and I headed off to Wet Willy's for Ladies Night.
We arrived and Wet Willy's is this bar out on the edge of the dock which is pretty cool. It was pretty much empty when we arrived so we got a spot at the bar and settled in to watch the show. Eeeewwww, some of the local girls were uh, well, hmmm, pretty skanky! We decided to make the pain of that go away by a few more shots.
As we were sitting there watching everything, in walks Russell! LOL. He hung out with us for awhile along with Jermaine who we had met the Sunday night before at Tacklebox. After awhile, Russell finally conviced Silvina to dance with him a bit and I continued to talk to Jermaine when I felt a sharp pain in my foot like it was on fire......turns out it was sorta! Russell had been trying to show off I think and knocked Jermaine's cigarette out of his hand which landed on my foot and burned the crap out of me!!! OUCH!!!! By this time, I was kinda ready to go and poor Mark looked like he was falling asleep so we decided to call it a night.
Mark was driving us back on the golf cart and we took somewhat of a scenic route so Silvina and I could see more of the downtown area which was cool. As we were getting back closer to our hotel, we spotted our friends from the police department in their golf cart going the other direction. As we went to wave and say hi, Mark took a dip rather fast and I caught air.......hitting my head on the golf cart and instead of a "hiiiii" that came out, it was more like the sound of a bird dying!!! LOL.
At last, we were home and Silvina and I headed up to get a couple hours of shut eye before doing it all over again! LOL
