Sfax

the road to Sfax

When you take the road from El Djem to Sfax you will notice that the ground is getting dryer and less vegetation.  Olive trees are very dominant presented. Because the state has a lot of plantations. In the harvest time the army has to help. As far as you can see, you will see olivetrees. The roads are rather good, but no highways. And they drive like idiots. Everytime you have to catch up an car you will hold your breath!!!

Sfax is a very big and modern harbour city. Sfax has about 277.000 people living in it. Sfax is also nown of its walls among the city. The history of this wall goes back until the 10th century.

Sfax has a large harbour so export is very important. They export oliveoil textile grain and sponges. We had our lunch in Hotel Yasmine in the upper floor. You had a very beautiful view from here over the harbour.
