I took a bus day trip to Amsterdam
. The tour guide was not the friendliest of people, actually he was down right rude. Before getting to Amsterdam we took a pit stop in a little town to a cheesefactory and a clog making factory. While there I spent all the Euro I had on me for gifts, but figured I would be able to get to an ATM when we arrived in Amsterdam. On the bus ride from Brussels to this town I had fallen asleep for about 15 minutes. When we get to Amsterdam we stopped close to the Heineken factory and everyone starts boarding one of the covered boats for a canal tour. I just start following the group & the tour guide says oh you want to go on this ? I collected money for it but you were asleep. Of course he said nothing to me when we stopped at the clog factory, when I still had cash on me. So now I had no cash to pay the 8 Euro and there was no ATM in sight, so the whole bus got on the boat for an hour long tour and I was left on my own. I walked off to find some lunch and that is how I discovered De Carrousel and the best breakfast ever ! (see below) I had to meet the tour back at the boat landing in an hour. When I go tback I started up an interesting conversation with the guy who worked at the boat tour. He was telling me how it is techinically illegal to grow weed in Amsterdam, yet no one asks how the Coffee Shops get the weed.
