Stratford-upon-Avon
Stratford-upon-Avon is located in the Warwickshire countryside of England on the banks of the Avon River. It is here where the great poet and playwright, William Shakespeare was born...and also where he died. The Shakespeare Visitor Centre starts the tour of the museum area and the house where Shakespeare was born in. Other sites in Stratford-Upon-Avon are included in the ticket price which includes entrance to John Nash's house (Shakespeare's granddaughter's husband), New Place (owned by William Shakespeare who later retired and died there), Anne Hathaway's (Shakespeare's wife) cottage, Mary Arden's house (Shakespeare's mother), and Hall's Croft (a house belonging to Dr. John Hall who married into the family through Shakespeare's daughter, Susanna).
Some of these houses are surrounded by beautiful gardens. The Holy Trinity Church (also located in Stratford-upon-Avon) is where Shakespeare was baptized, and also buried. His wife, Anne Hathaway, is buried next to him along with his eldest daughter, Susanna. The church is open to visitors for a good part of the year. A small contribution (£1.50) is requested to access the chancel and sanctuary in which Shakespeare is buried. Picture-taking is allowed.
If you are fan of Shakespeare's work and have a genuine interest about this famous poet and playwright's history and life, I recommend visiting Stratford-upon-Avon in England.
