Travelling by train to Berlin, Poznan, Krakow, Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna and ending in Zagreb where we hired a car and travelled for a week in South Croatia.

a UNESCO World Heritage

The Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of Croatia's biggest tourist attractions. The park contains 16 lakes and there in between 90 waterfalls. The water is crystal clear. The entrance fee is expensive for a park but certainly worth it for us. You have several walking routes; we took the route of 6 to 8 hours walk. When you don’t like to walk much, you’ll still be able to see most of the park by the ferry boats (price included in the entrance fee.

When you’re travelling by car, you don’t need to book a hotel ahead. In the villages around this park, many families offers rooms or apartments for around 100-120 Kuna (about 14 to 16 euro) per person without breakfast. (the houses on the main road are more expensive so just take a side road.) We slept in an apartment for 100 Kuna per person. The owner speaks a bit German but his wife doesn’t. She just made apple strudel and gave us some too. Yummy!
