The largest population in the Luckenbach vicinity.

A hill country hamlet complete with blacksmith shop, post office, beer joint, dance hall and cotton gin.

Luckenbach is best known for the song by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson written by Hondo Crouch.  Willie Nelson has been known to spend many stoned nighs by the fire.

Luckenbach was settled in 1850 by German pioneers.  The Reverend August Engel established the Post Office in 1886.  It remains as it was ... one unpainted general store that also serves as a beer tavern, a traditional rural dancehall, and sometimes a used blacksmith shop.

When driving to Luckenbach don't blink or you will miss it, if you past the goats it is time to turn around.

Let's go to Luckenbach Texas with waylon and Willie and the boys

This successful life we're livin' got us fueding

like the Hatfield and McCoys

Between Hank Williams pain songs, Newberry's train songs

and blue eyes cryin' in the rain out in Luckenbach Texas

ain't nobody feelin' no pain

Michelle, great review! I lived in Austin in the mid-late 1980s and took several friends to see Luchenbach :-D
