A farewell to one group of travelers...

Since I was going to hit Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City in a few days time, I decided to sleep in today while the rest of the group headed over to see those sights. I would then meet the group outside the Forbidden City to visit the Beijing Huiling Community Services Center.
Around 11:30 I left for the short-ish walk to the exit of the Forbidden City complex. Found everyone and we headed over to the Center. The Huiling Community Center is a center for developmentally disabled adults that helps them integrate with society. I learned that whatever challenges/problems America has with integrating people with disabilities, China's are far greater. At the center we found that the members had prepared a lunch of dumplings for us.
Later that day, Lillian took us to her parents for a final dinner before we would all split up and go our separate ways. We caught a bus that took us a bit east of the downtown area to one of the many sprawling highrise apartment complexes that house people in Beijing and the other larger cities. It was a nice sized apartment, but small compared to most homes in the United States. But with so many people in the Beijing and more arriving daily, space is at a premium. We had another grand family style dinner with a variety of dishes to choose from. I realized that I was going to miss Chinese food when I left in a few short days. Back on the bus later in the evening to get back to Wangfunjing and a final round of drinks as the evening ended.
