The longest train ride I had while travelling in China was about 19 hours. This run would be around 30 hours including the stop at the border. I was on the #3 Train that actually runs all the way from Beijing to Moscow but would be travelling as far as Ulaan Bataar. It wasn't long before we were finally on our way. We travel briefly through Beijing heading west out of the city. The train then heads northwest towards the city of Zhangjiakou as it leaves Beijing and there was some interesting scenery as we passed through the hills outside Beijing. Our path ran along a river and through a series of tunnels as we journeyed onward. Everyone was excited this early in the journey and spent a lot of time standing out in the corridor enjoying the views and capturing photos out the windows. It was a gorgeous day, perfect for watching the countryside slide by.
