Back to Bangkok (and another night in BKK airport)

Sitting in Bangkok (BKK - Suvanbhumi) Airport writing this entry awaiting my connecting flight to Hong Kong. It's a 13-hour layover - too short to go anywhere (even to the airport hotel at $150 US/night) but too long in the grand scheme of things. I haven't updated my journal for the past several days (note this was written during the trip and being transcribed afterwards), so will be spending some time trying to write about the last few days of my Everest Trek and the final days in Kathmandu and by extension Nepal.
Today was both a slow and a busy day. Woke up around 7:00 AM to finish the packing process and prepare for departure. Before checking out, I met Mark and Dave @ 8:30 AM for breakfast. We went over to Northfield Cafe a few buildings down the street. After eating I wished them well on their travels as they were heading to India tomorrow morning. I saw Dom as well and did the same. Around 10:45 I checked out of the Kathmandu Guest House for the final time to take the always exciting taxi ride through chaotic Kathmandu to the airport. Passed through all the formalities (remembering to pay my departure tax and get my coupon before checking in) and was stamped out of Nepal into the international departures area. Tried to use the last of my Rupees on some food and souvenirs before going through the final security check to my plane for BKK (Thai Airways (TG) 320, 777-200, seat 40A). Flight was uneventful other than some mild turbulence passing through the cloud layer.
Now I found myself killing time in Bangkok Airport and putting my thoughts on paper. The entries you read from 4/24 heading up to Everest Base Camp until today were written during this time frame.
