Tish, Lynn, Mel, and me at the Bleu Olive in Branson.
On Friday we were up fairly early to eat breakfast and then start our 4.5 hour drive to Branson in south Missouri. Melanie had never heard of Branson when I first mentioned going here, but it is Missouri's most popular vacation spot for out-of-staters. Even Melanie's neighbor in Vegas gave her a hard time about never hearing of Branson. :) Tish (www.travbuddy.com/tishknudsen) had invited me as a guest to her husband's show whenever I was in town, so I thought this would be the perfect time to go while I had Melanie with me.
We left STL around 10:30 and arrived in Branson at 3ish. We made a few stops along the way, including a chocolate store.
Melanie, at a gas station on our way to Branson.
Once at our destination we checked into the Clarion at the Palace Hotel...President Bush stayed at this hotel, so we figured if it was good enough for a President then it was good enough for a Queen! A bit later Tish and her husband Lynn arrived to pick us up. We had already made plans to eat dinner and then go to the show. Our dinner was really good, too. Tish picked a great place. We ate at the Bleu Olive (Mel also did a review on this restaurant), a Mediterranean restaurant. The conversation was superb...Of course, a lot of it centered around Travbuddy. Lynn didn't know too much about what TB was...but I think he has a good grasp of it now. And from this conversation, Tish and I are also now scheming for a meetup in Branson sometime next year! And trust me, with Tish's hand in the planning, you will not want to miss it!
After dinner we needed to go.

..Lynn received a text that he better get going because of the traffic. And since Lynn is part of the show, well...you get the picture. I guess this would be a good place to explain the show, and perhaps a little bit about Branson for all of those Melanies out there who hasn't a clue what Branson is. hahaha
Branson is known as a smaller version of Vegas, only more toned down. There are an estimated 8 million people who visit each year. It is home to more than 50 theaters/shows with several famous performers making this their entertainment base. Even Wayne Newton left Vegas for Branson at one time. It also has several museums and attractions including Silver Dollar City, Shepherd of the Hills, the Titanic Museum and the American Presidents Museum.
And now about the show...SIX is the group's name, composed of six brothers, one of which is Lynn.
Mel and me as we wait on Lynn and Tish.
SIX was named Branson's best new show in 2007. They have shared the stage with Trisha Yearwood, Diana Ross, the Beach Boys, Olivia Newton John, Rod Stewart, the Doobie Brothers and many others. They were originally performing at the Aladdin in Las Vegas before coming to Branson. I am including the link to their website where you can learn more about what they do and even listen to some of their music. And like the website says, you won't believe what comes out of their mouths. These guys are absolutely amazing. They don't use any instruments, but you wouldn't know it. Check out the website and you'll see what I mean. Melanie and I felt truly honored to be treated as VIPs. We were seated up front and thoroughly enjoyed being entertained. Tish even gave us three of their cds and had them signed. After the show we went to the Andy Williams restaurant and socialized until about one in the morning.
SIX performing. That's Lynn in the center.
Two of Lynn's brothers from SIX also joined us.
What a great evening!!! Thank you so much Tish and Lynn. But all good things must end. Our hosts dropped us off at our hotel and we said our goodbyes. I will be visiting again probably in November for the Christmas scene, and will definitely make SIX one of my stops. And like I said earlier, Tish and I will be planning a Branson meetup for next year...stay tuned for that.
Morning was going to come early since we had to drive back to STL with several things on our list to get done. PLus, we needed to drive to the Arkansas state line so Melanie could say she's been to Clinton country!
