Me near the fountains of Branson Landing
With a busy day ahead of us we took the opportunity to sleep until 8:45, before going down to the breakfast area at the hotel. After enjoying a lazy morning, we finally left the hotel around 10:45 to head to downtown Branson
where we were set to ride out on the Branson Scenic Railway around 11:30. After what seemed like hours of standing on the platform and waiting to baord the train, we were finally able to board the train. We were lucky enough to sit in the top of one of the dome cars. We were seated next to a couple from Kansas. We enjoyed visiting with them along the forty mile train excursion. The train ride was a forty mile trip through the Ozark Mountains in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas.

After leaving the train it was time to get a bit to eat. On the recomendation of our pastor's wife, we went to a little place called Mel's Hard Luck Diner. The servers who work at the 50s style diner, have to audition for the job, as one of the requirments is to be able to sing. When they aren't taking orders, filling your drinks or bringing out your meal, the servers take turns passing the microphone around and singing. After leaving Mel's Hard Luck Diner, we had some down time before having to head to the Branson Belle. Since we had packed quite a bit in the five day road trip, we decided to take advantage of the down time and relax at the hotel. While my hubby watched a movie, I took a short nap. Then it was time to get ready to go to the Show Boat Branson Belle (the thing we had looked forward to the most).
We arrived at the boarding area around 6:15. We spent some time wondering aroung the garden area and taking pictures. We were allowed to board the magnificiant boat at 7:00 p.m. We were privileged to be the first two to board the boat for the night. Upon arrival on the boat, the crew took our picture before showing us to where we would be eating dinner. We had upgraded our seats to include dinner in the Paddle Wheel Club Room. Inside the Paddle Wheel Club Room, we were seated at at table next to full length windows. The windows looked out at the huge paddle wheels that powered the large vessel. We were seated at a table with a couple from Kansas City
who were also in Branson for the first time.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal complete with 18 oz rib eye steaks, steamed veggies, and desserts. After we finished dinner, our waitress took us to where we would be sitting at once the show began. We were then allowed to roam around on the decks of the Branson Belle. We went out to the upper deck and then made our way to the wheel house, where we were able to visit with the captain about the boat and Table Rock Lake. Before we knew it, it was time to make our way inside for the show. We easily found our seats again and sat down to enjoy the show. The show consisted of the group called the Branson Belle Showstoppers. They sang and danced to several well known songs. Then came the Russian accrobatics team consisting of a husband and wife. We were quite amazed by the ability of the two. Then came the Showstoppers for another round. For the final big act came Todd Oliver and his talkng dogs. Mr Oliver had my hubby and I both in histerics with his funny conversations with his four legged friends. The show ended around 10:30 and we exited the boat. On our way off, however, we stopped for a quick picture with our nights captain. After what had been a long but almost perfect day, we headed back to the hotel for the rest of the evening.
