My hubby and I after eight hours on the road.
Bright and early on October 9, 2008, my husband and I loaded up our little Mitsubishi Outlander and hit the road for a five day road trip to Branson, Missouri.    We stopped about 45 minutes from our house to get some McDonalds for breakfast.  Once we got into Oklahoma we decided to fill up on gas as the price was the lowest we had seen in a long time at $2.79 a gallon.  Then it was time to hit the open road.  We drove through several small towns in the eastern area of Oklahoma before crossing the Arkansas state line near Fort Smith.  From there we headed on north to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where we stopped for a quick lunch at Chick-Fil-A.  We finally crossed into to Missouri about 1:30 in the afternoon.  We made it to our hotel by2:00 after about eight hours on the road.  Of course we didn't have but a short time at the hotel before we were off to our first "event" of our trip.  We went to the Dixie Stampede at 4:30 in order to catch the pre show entertainment.  The preshow entertainment consisted of a man who juggled including juggling burning torches.  The same man then balanced things on his chin even an eight foot tall ladder.  Then it was time to take our seats before the show began.  We were lucky enough to be seated on the first row in between a couple from Arkansas and a family of five from Wisconsin.  They served us a good dinner which we had to eat with our fingers while the show was being performed.  After the show was over we went to play a round of putt putt at the Treasure Island Adventure golf course, before heading back to our hotel for the night.
