Sadly, after a wonderful fifth anniversary get road trip, it was time to head home. We were up bright and early (around 6:20) to get everything packed up and loaded in the car before taking time to eat breakfast at the resort one more time. We checked out of the hotel and hit the road a little after 8:00. We had to make a couple of quick stops in Branson before leaving town. I fell in love with a bridge that crossed Lake Tanneycomo so I just had to have a couple of pictures of it. Of course while stopeed to get my pictures of the bridge, my hubby spotted some birds near the water of Lake Tanneycomo, so he had to have pictures of the birds.

We finally left Branson around 9:00. Then we were off, taking the backroads, since I'm a firm beliver of you should never go the same way twice. We passed through quaint little towns such as Hollister, Ridgeway and Blue Eye, on our way to visit the Cosmic Caverns near Berryville, Arkansas. We stopped to tour the caverns. We took the tour with another couple whom were on their honeymoon and staying in nearby Eureka Springs. The caverns had some beautiful formations and was quite enjoyable. Then we had to hit the road again, after all we had a long way still to go. We arrived in Eureka Springs, Arkansas around one and instantaneously were transported back to five years earlier when we spent our honeymoon in the beautiful little town. Our first order of business in Eureka Springs was to visit the Bed and Breakfast, Angel At Rose Hall, we stayed in while on our honeymoon.

We had to take a few quick pictures there before, driving up to the Crescent Hotel to take a few more pictures. Then it was time to stop for a bite to eat. We stopped at one of the places we had enjoyed on our previous trip to Eureka Springs. We were however, quite disappointed this go round, as the service was bad and the food forgetable. We had originally planned to spend a few hours shopping while in Eureka Springs, but because of the snail paced service at the restraunt we were running far behind schedule. We did take time to take time to snap a few pictures of town though before hitting the open road again. We had planned to take the backroads all the way south to Mena Arkansas and then follow the Talimena Drive to Tahlihina, Oklahoma, however with daylight fading we had a last minute change of plans and decided to cut across further north of Mena to save on time. It was disappointing not to get to take the more scenic drive, but it would have been to dark to see anything anyway. At a few minutes until midnight, we crossed the Texas/Oklahoma state line, and knew we were almost home. We finally arrived home close to 1:00 a.m. After logging more than 1000 miles on this five day four night road trip, we were glad to sleep in our own bed.
