One of the members of our group put it perfectly "We found paradise"!!!
The lake is beautiful, the secnery stunning and it is the perfect location to relax for a couple of days to unwind from the traveling and the excitement of the gorillas. Althought as it is a crater lake the drive up was enough to teriffy the best of us (very steep very narrow raod + one big truck) and the walk up and down from the tents to the bar is very taxing (not looking for sympathy or anything). We had a totally free day and had lots of plans such as getting up late, a nature walk followed by a light lunch and then some canoneing in one of the 2 man boats across teh lake to look at some of the smaller islands in the middle. As with the best laid plans of men and mice....nothing works out the way it should!!!!
We got up early (thanks to the birds and the armed guards) took so long to do breakfast and clear it up decided against the nature walk. (I managed to fit in a well timed mothers day phone call, sorry that it was at 7.30 am Mum!!!!!) Were about to consider the canoneing when the heavens opened and a torrent of rain fell apon us!!!! So more time was spent in the bar (on stilts, watching the rain).
That night we had the fright of our lives when a shot gun being fired woke us up!!!! Aparent \ly, someone tried to break in. But thats what the armed guards are therefore, no damage was done and the man ran away.
So off now back to Kampala!!!!!
Untill the next time.....
