Arriving in Nairobi
Taking off from London Heathrow at 1005, we arrive in Nairobi nearly 9 hours later on Friday 9th March, giving us three days to aclimatise before the tour begins.
Got here safely - after being accotsed by a 'porter' at the air port and our cab being pulled over by the police on the way to the camp. We had a beer and settled into our living arrangements for the next cpouple of days. it is clean and relaxing. we took a walk into the local town on our fist full day - about 40 mins to get to anything - on the way back we had our first reall expierence of africa and saw two tiny children carry 2 large carriers of water back from town to their home. For being the good people that we are, we helped them to carry the water back to their home, which consiste of a 10' x 6' corregated iron shed - for a family of seven. A very moving experience, and not one that we anticipated seeing on our first day.
Since then, we have mostly been relaxing at the camp, and this morning we finally hit the road. This update is coming to you from Nakuru, Kenya. We are around 30km from our first overnight stop, and will continue onto Rwanda for the next three days and expect to trek gorillas on Friday.
Hope to update again soon, but all depends on when we can get to any form of civilisation!!
