As the lonely planet so amusingly states : " the beauty of this island will have anyone shed a tear. Shed another when you realize that all the speedos in the world are on display here"
Fortunately not totally true though, I only saw a few oldies in speedoes.
I met so many great people here ! Me and the canadian Curtis spent the first few days together partying. They are selling the buckets of mixed alcohol here...dangerous stuff.... We were hanging out with this slovak couple when we met all these ladyboys promoting some party. That was fun ! (and a bit scary) .
Then one of the nights we were here he got into an fight and sent some thai guy to the hospital. Then he was arrested, and put in night jail. The police also stole his wallet and camera and gave him a massive fine.
My first impression of the island was that it was pretty expensive. This was based on the fact that I would have to pay twice as much for a dive here as compared to Koh Tao, and that i was paying twice the price of Koh Tao for my accomodation. Anyway not too much, considering 400 baht (13$). I chose not too dive here based on the high price, but I probably should have done it anyway as the water was so amazingly clear and beautiful.
While diving on Koh Tao it was during the rainy season wich is over now, so the visibility was really poor and the colours were'nt at it's best as the sky was clouded constantly.
MY GOD WHAT A PLACE !! this is truly paradise I think. Of all the island i visited here this was the most breathtaking one. This is much because of the amazing mountains surrounding it, and the scenery in general. I went on a day trip, and that i something i would reccomend anyone going here, as that was a lot of fun !.
We were 8 people on the trip, and had a lot of fun. First it went to the place where a lot of monkeys where living on a special beach. That was cool as we were in the middle of the living area of this clan of monkeys. The other guys were trying to get close to them and stuff...but i did everything to keep my distance really as i know that one bite from these guys would require me to take a bunch of rabies shots daily over the next weeks.
After that we went to some cool cliffs witch we were supposed to jump from. There were spots at 7 meters, 12 meters, 20 meters and 50 meters(insane). I was not willing to break my back, so I settled for 12 meters. Some of the other guys and one girl jumped from the 20 meter. My god...I went up there to see...and it was crazy high. I saw how some of the guys landed, l ike beeing shifted in the air in such a way that they landed on their back...looked horrific. Then i heard about the girl who broke her neck from this point some weeks ago.
The trip got even better as we got to the spot where we could snorkel with reef sharks. That was a lot of fun, as there where sharks and swordfish and hundred other types of fishies there. We where feeding them pineapple, that was cool when they were nibbling all over me!
The sea was crystal clear.Perfection.
Then we went to "the beach" from the Leonardo Dicaprio movie. That was amazing as this island was totally covered by these amazing mountains with all the cool caves. We lazied off in the beach some time and went on the long boat back to Koh Phi phi.
Later that night I went out with the gang from the trip, great guys. WE went to see the thai boxing, crazy stuff...
Then we went to the place which i found to be the only really cool place on the island ; "the avalanche bar" . I've barely ever had that much fun parties before. Dancing around on the beach all night. I went here all the fopur nights i was on the island, and never got home before 05.
It was however really annoying that they were stopping the music at 04.00 ,that was just about when everything was on the peak of fun !
Then the last night i was there they stopped at 02.00 ...this of course lead to a lot of pissed of people,me included....but it wasd suppsedly some new stupid law.
