I frequent Puerto Penasco about a dozen times a year, but I figured this time I would share a little about the town known to us Gringos as "rocky Point". Puerto Penasco lives 4 hours south west of Phoenix Arizona, and is an easy quick drive. Puerto Penasco was a fishing village that has switched over to having tourism be it's primary business. Although this is the goal of the Mexican gvernment, it remains largely an Arizona hang out. It is a great town, especially during the week when most of the tourist go home. Rocky Points history go's back quite a ways, it is a city that was helped created my Al Capone as he helped build the main marina, and airports, all which were used to get bootleg alcohol across the border.

Today it is more of a tourist spot as I mentioned with a variety of places to stay ranging from cheap old mexico hotels, to ultra modern, ultra luxury high rise condominiums. Rocky Point holds a special place for me as I have a 27' Catamaran Sailboat that lives down, so me and my friends go there quiet frequently. It is a great place to sail with relativally consist winds always. Although it lacks some of the stuff to do like places like cancun, cabo or puerto Vallarta have, it is still a great place to spend a weekend or week.
