it's always grey in greymouth
and surely it was...and raining. But the hostel was absolutely awesome.
The owner was so personable and funny. He had backpacked for about 10 years before starting up his own. There's nothing much to do in Greymouth but staying in was not a problem. No bunkbeds!!! and only 3 people to a room. And next door is a bakery that donates all the left over food to the hostel...sweet deal! It was very eclectic feeling...fun colors and stuff on the wall...and Fish, the cat. He was by far the biggest cat I have seen...huge and grey and fluffy, with a long fluffy tail. And not big as in fat...he wasn't fat, just very large.... The owner said that's what happens with all the inbreeding in Greymouth haha. We watched movies mainly in the common room that had all comfy mismatching couches. The hostel makes all the difference. He interacted with the guests all night, and used to be a bus driver for Magic (the bus I'm taking) and he joined us on the next leg of the journey down to Franz Josef.
