Working in the morning, hanging out in the French Quarter at evening :)
October 14, 2008
I went to the office early in the morning. The boys didn't arrive until 10:30am. They were partying until 3am and were really tired, haha. Therefore they didn't want to go out today and drove back to the hotel early in the afternoon. Would I stay alone and bored in my room? No way! I have already made plans with a TB: Shannon! He lives in New Orleans and would be able to meet me and hang out, yeah!
At 6:30pm he arrived to the hotel to pick me up. I was talking on the phone, so he had to wait me for a while, hehe. While I was getting ready we started to chat a bit. Well, further details in my other blog, meeting him deserves an entrance there too :) Ok, I was ready to leave now. Shannon suggested me to go to the French Quarter, yay!
I have already been there, but not this time. Well, I was there with my customers and boss but it doesn't count as party, hehe. My boss is always taking care of me as a jealous dad, haha. In our way Shannon was showing me around and pointing some buildings. It's unbelieavable. This was my 5th time in the city, but don't know many places, but of course I know where to go to party, haha. We parked and started walking to Bourbon Street.
We arrived to the famous Bourbon Street and in order to get in the mood, we went to one of the tons of Daiquiri's shops to get our first drinks. I got a Hurricane and Shannon got a Vodka. I was about saying "Cheers!", when Shannon surprised me saying "Salud!" haha. We had been talking about where to have dinner, but better walked around and then we would decide, haha. At the end we never left the French Quarter, haha. We were walking through Bourbon Street and Shannon was pointing me different places he uses to hang out with his friends and I recognized some places I have been too, haha. It was hilarious.
Now we kept on walking and went to Jackson Square. It looked so lovely at night. I was so happy about being able to take tons of pics. I haven't been able to do it before, furthermore Shannon loves to take pics too, hehe. We were hanging out and having a great time. I was telling him about my previous times in New Orleans. And I commented him a friend couldn't believe I haven't had a hand grenade. Shannon said, we would fix that inmediately, so we went to Tropical Island, where this drinks were originated. Well, it's a secret what this drink has, haha.
We grabbed our drinks to go and keep on walking around, checking some jazz clubs and art. We found beautiful cottages and the full moon was perfect. There were plenty of opportunities to take great shots. Time for a refill. We went back to Tropical Island and got another drink, but I don't remember the name of it, ughhhh. We were a bit tired of walking so we went upstairs and took a sit in a balcony. We were just chilling out and Shannon was telling me about the city and where he'd like to move. Living near this area might be so cool!!!!
Ok, I think before going it'd be a good idea to eat something to suck the alcohol, haha. A slice of pizza was perfect, haha. That slice was huge! so it was more than enough for us both :) Shannon drove me back to the hotel around midnight - a Cinderella, haha.
And what about my custormes and my boss? well they were sleeping and recovering from last night. They have no idea I was hanging out in the French Quarter, haha.

Luau in a cup, Home of Hand Grenade NOLA's powerful drink - Tropical Isle :P
Tropical Isle is the home of the famous or infamous Hand Grenade, one of the most famous and powerful drinks in New Orleans. You can find the Hand Grenades in their 4 locations - all of them on Bourbon Street, hehe.
The original opened in 1984 and is still very successful. It has a cozy atmosphere, where you can find tropical decoration, stuffed hand grenades hanging from the ceiling and fun signs warning you about the power of the drinks, haha.
This bars are famous because of their signature drinks. Besides the "Hand Grenade", they serve the "Tropical Itch" &, "Horny Gator" - all of them with a fruity flavor but strong and powerful. These drinks are served in funny cups, which you can keep as souvenirs.
While you are having your drink you can either listen to the band playing in the bar, take a sit on the terrace or just walk through Bourbon Street with your fun cup, hehe.
But nobody knows exactly what's in a Hand Grenade. It's a secret, but you can be sure there are lots of liqueurs in it. It doesn't taste very strong, but believe me it is... uff!!!
I found this funny Drinking Guide:
Drink 1: Will lift your spirits and make you happy.
Drink 2: Will give you a nice buzz.
Drink 3: Will result in a complete loss of your inhibitions.
Drink 4: Will cause you to dance in the streets.
Drink 5: You're on your own. Not recommendable to drink 5!
