Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Bar Harbor

I flew my mother up from North Carolina for a birthday present. She had never been to New England and it was close to peak color season for Down East Maine.
Needs an update, but works as a place to sleep
This hotel seems to go by several names ... Bar Harbor Regency, Holiday Inn, Sunspree Resort. I believe part of it comes from a national chain like Holiday Inn buying a old local resort and also tagging it with their Sunspree Resort status. We were located in a building that was not connected to the main building with the reception lobby. It appears that our building was previously a different hotel (even had abandoned reception desk) and that several buildings were purchased and combined under one name and property. I can't speak for any other buildings, but ours was old and looked like it hadn't been updated in a while. The location is good as far as having a very short drive into Bar Harbor or to Acadia, and it is right next to the ferry that goes to Nova Scotia, but there really isn't much of a view and you can't walk into town from here. It is right on the water, but sits low and trees block the view for most rooms. We did not eat at the restaurant here.
